Steel Baby Gate
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.5 лет назад
Now that the stairs are done and the basement is carpeted, we have a new problem, being that we have a baby who’s active, but susceptible to climbing up, and then falling down the stairs. So I’ll build a gate much like the one I made upstairs when this little guy was a baby. The gate upstairs swings on half barrel hinges and this one will too, which makes it easy to remove when desired. The lat...
Curved Stairs - Part 2
Просмотров 51 тыс.5 лет назад
THE ADVENTURE OF THE CURVED STAIRS CONTINUES! The masking tape will help me both keep glue off of the alder veneer of the stringer, AND to line up the first trim piece. I’ve gotta just say this about clamps: You hear guys say that “You can never have enough clamps” and I think that’s hard for most people to comprehend. You know, “Why do you need a hundred of the same type of clamp?” I even reme...
Curved Stairs - Part 1
Просмотров 108 тыс.5 лет назад
In 2004 I visited an amazing building in the state of Illinois called the Nauvoo Temple. Inside there's an incredible spiral staircase traveling many floors that inspired me to someday do something similar in my own home. Nine years later after I had gotten married and we were planning and designing our house I drew a round staircase that would be freestanding on the inside stringer. I built a ...

    Nice job, I love your welding skills, I aim to be at least half as good. I am a little surprised at the design of the cart where the bottles are held, when I make my cart/s, I do not intend on lifting the bottle and lowering them into the cart, rather lifting them about the 4 inches onto the bottom of the cart, and securing them with a bungee cord or chain. I love your skills though and great design

    Why not keep it so the fan is on when it’s plugged in? Then after your done running the welder and it hot it’s passively cooling for the next run, though ig you have the thing plugged in for weeks I can see why you wouldent

    1) Do not run band saw blades so fast.! You were pushing hella hard, I could see. 2) Use oil with it. If it was really 1/4" thick, remind yourself of step 1. 3) Using oil or lubricant, make sure it is constantly lubricated. Keep an oil can with you. 4) wear PPE! 5) Stop running it so fast! 6th and final critique use oil on pretty much anything metal. Especially the band saw and hole saws... night and day difference. Youd get fired ever running drills or any of that without lubricants. Bit breakers are bit buyers as they say... Cool build. 😎 i would have bought better clamps at the end... i see the real craftsmen. Gluing both sides, clamping final with goo-out and screwed finished.

      I've built free standing open both circulars. The width of the stringers adds strength as well as thickness. I would also add a center stringer, and make sure the stringers are anchored securely at the foot.

    Can't believe you got only 59.now 60 comments.your fortunate it was your home. I had a similar project that was 35 miles from my home that was bottom 5 treads circular off a slab to a landing to a deck and had to build as you know 2 forms for the different radii suspended steps. My point is it is a birch of you need a measurement you missed.fortunately. Rise/run min tread and width is pretty basic but ya spring back is a birch and when I got back to the job it didn't look lick the radii worked.funny how just a little spring can make you look like a regard with the homeowner watching.anyway if your going to watch your going to help lol. Give that a push(similar to you) and glue,screw and an anchor bolt later and it's show me the money. PS.the guy that made the railing said he would never build a circular railing again.he didn't have the benefit of my forms. Anyway nice job friend .

    Can anyone answer this. I'm wondering if I should buy an old crusty Miller 225 Thunderbolt AC with infinite adjustment and horrendously cheap looking paint scheme. Or an AC225 Lincoln "Tombstone" with the low quality resin coated aluminum transformer and the non-infinite amperage adjustment. The Lincoln AC225 is regarded as the very worst welder, and not even worth owning. But at the same time, it is considered "way better" than the Miller AC Thunderbolt. People complain about the Miller's "crappy" amperage adjustment scheme. After hours and hours of research, both welders are apparently AWFUL. But which one is better?

    • @fryloc359
      @fryloc359 Год назад

      IMHO, I'd buy the Miller. I've never used the tombstone, but I always see a lot of them for sale. Not so much with the Millers.

  • @swiss6253
    @swiss6253 2 года назад

    I have just the AC 225 but it doesn't have a crank handle anymore. 9/16" fits so I can still turn it with a socket, just trying to think of a more creative permanent solution.
